UK - The award-winning Little Britain comedy team, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, have recorded ten special sketches for a limited edition DVD, produced especially for Red Nose Day 2005. Celebrity fans like Sir Elton John, George Michael, Robbie Williams, Simon Callow and Trisha all get the Little Britain treatment and this will be the public’s first opportunity to see the pair’s new material.
The limited edition Little Britain DVD will be exclusively available in the high street from HMV’s 190-plus UK stores, Comic Relief’s online shop, www.rednoseday.com and at BBC Shops on Monday 14th February.
The DVD can also be purchased online through www.hmv.co.uk (record levels of customer pre-orders are expected on their site) and at Comic Relief’s online shop at www.rednoseday.com.
As a bonus, the DVD also includes previously unseen Little Britain out takes as well as an exclusive interview with Matt and David. They talk to Jamie Theakston about the incredible success of their show and their support for Comic Relief and Red Nose Day.
Matt and David wrote the sketches especially for Red Nose Day and are very excited to be involved in the campaign. The comedy duo said, “When we asked these household names to enter the world of Little Britain we never thought they would throw themselves into it with quite so much enthusiasm. Some of them, not mentioning any names Robbie, haven't been the same since. It's great to think that the money from this DVD will go to help change lives - we hope loads of people buy a copy, or even two".
With more than 45 minutes of material, the DVD will retail for just £4.99, with at least £3.40 from each copy sold going directly to Comic Relief.
Ian Dawson, HMV’s Head of DVD & Video, says, “We’re enormously proud to be participating in Red Nose Day for the very first time as an official partner and we hope to raise a great deal of money. I am confident that we will sell out of the stock that we are producing and thus generate over £500,000 for Comic Relief, which would be absolutely fantastic.”
Kevin Cahill, CEO of Comic Relief said “The sketches are hilarious and Red Nose Day is sure to make loads of money from the sale of the Little Britain Comic Relief Special DVD, all made possible with the kind help from Matt, David and HMV”.
