Just a quick comment on the actual presentation of the DVD (not the film) - I think Sony dropped the ball on this one. There is far too much fluff that you have to wade through before you can even get to the menu to see the film - These are...
A quick Sony intro (I'll let them off this one).
That annoying noisy film about how we are all pirates, thieves and how DVD piracy is like stealing cars or robbing old ladies (as an aside, I'd more liken it to borrowing someones car, making a copy and then giving them their car back. You know how the film industry's mind works though). Fortunately you can skip this one.
Trailer for some film which can skip.
Another trailer for some film which can skip (again).
A third trailer which you can skip.
In all, it takes about 40 seconds to actually get anywhere near seeing the film if you are skipping, and about 5 minutes if you aren't.

Unfortunately this is becoming a trend with DVD production people - I wonder if it's a competition to see how annoying you can make watching a DVD which you have just paid for (unless you are one of these horrible pirates - see above).

The point I'm trying to make is that the presentation of the DVD is extremely poor compared with the other Bond titles, where the producers treated the menus as a kind of transition into the Bond world. I think this is a bit of a retrograde step for DVDs and harkens back to the days of Video.

The film was rather good though when I finally got to it ;)

I'd have to agree about the crap you have to wade through on a number of DVDs these days. What is worse is when you can't skip them or just hit the menu button.

I read at Dark Horizons that director Martin Campbell mentioned in an interview that a 'Ultimate Edition' of Casino Royale is in the works.

Ultimate edition? Probably means extra long tailers at the begining!

I can't even watch this DVD on my Phillips DVDR or Phillips DVD players -- Phillips have no clue what I'm talking about & the stupid thing (2nd one) will play on other ones. What's going on!
